This BMW 2.3-liter S14 inline-four was reportedly removed from a 1988 E30 M3 that was acquired by the seller in 2019. The engine features a BMW M-branded valve cover and includes a distributor, alternator, factory intake plenum, exhaust manifold, engine wiring harness, and a Bosch Motronic ECU. The throttle bodies, air conditioning compressor, and power steering pump have been removed and are not included in the sale. The engine is said to have remained in the M3 until it was removed by the seller in November 2021, and service under current ownership reportedly included replacing the spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, and ignition wires along with changing the fluids
The 2.3-liter BMW S14 inline-four features dual overhead camshafts, an aluminum cylinder head, and a cast-iron block. Factory-rated output was 192 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The seller notes approximately 194k miles were on the engine when it was removed from the M3 in November 2021.
